ABOUT THE OHIO ACTION INITIATIVE

OUR VISION

The Ohio Action Initiative implements an extensive curriculum that will aid young men and women of underprivileged areas. We provide resources to develop keen communication skills, money management literacy, project management with media content, etiquette training, research competency training, and proper community service techniques. By instilling these goals and practices into each student, our youth will help to rebuild their communities not only with service but with knowledge.

OUR MISSION

The Ohio Action Initiative discovers, develops & inspires youth to reach their maximum potential as productive, responsible, and hardworking citizens within their communities. Through unique artistic pathways, direct mentorship, and community service, TOAI enables underprivileged youth to gain access to resources that aid in developing confidence, respect, and opportunities to enhance their everyday way of life.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

COLLABORATION: We believe in the overall strength and effectiveness of a collaborative approach and will endeavor to foster positive working relationships with a broad array of individuals, community organizations and institutions focused on shared yet unique experiences.

LEADERSHIP: Leadership is often needed to build confidence that addresses emerging needs and will take a proactive role in developing new relationships and expanding program efforts where our competencies and assets can be of benefit to children, youth and families.

CULTURAL COMPETENCY: To prepare our students to become conscious members of an evolving multicultural society; it is imperative to identify situations effectively when faced with diversity-based dilemmas. We will focus on ensuring our faculty and staff are completely equipped with the knowledge and techniques needed to interact with our students.

ARTS & MEDIA COMPETENCY: Arts and positive media outlets are essential in the development of youth today. We will focus on the necessities needed to allow the student to create and develop ideas, learn and expand on their passions and distinguish their artistic brand within communities to help augment culture.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: In order for your community to serve you, you must first serve the community. We will focus on first serving the youth by each staff member/volunteer dedicating themselves to being a direct mentor to an individual student which will motivate them to positively affect their community. The focus will be on issues that are challenging the community and efforts to work to find tangible solutions together.
